Refugees, Displacement, and Resettlement Conference and Workshop
Julia Jaekel and Hillary Fouts in the Department of Child and Family Studies, along with Tricia Redeker Hepner in the Department of Anthropology, organized an interdisciplinary workshop hosted at UT February 24, 2017.
The presentations focused on various aspects of the refugee experience of displacement and resettlement. Presenters and attendees included faculty, students, and community members, as well as government and non-profit organization representatives who work with refugees. The goal of the workshop was to facilitate open discussion among participants as well as to build a network of individuals and organizations in the Knoxville area dedicated to working with refugees and refugee related matters.
Working Paper Series
As part of our efforts to provide a platform for students and faculty to share their ongoing research, DDHR will begin publishing an online Working Paper Series. We hope this resource will help spur conversations and encourage faculty and students to contribute in terms of original writing, as well as discussions.
We plan to release the Working Paper Series in fall of 2017. At that point, we will transfer all existing working papers into the new journal system and issue a fresh call for working papers from graduate students and faculty.
