Among the many aspects I find compelling and exciting about the DDHR program is its direct international engagement with migration and well-being of migrants and refugees. As the new chair of anthropology at UT, I hope to contribute new network connections to DDHR program development.
Many of these connections derive from my 14 years in anthropology and archaeology departments in the United Kingdom, where I was part of projects that involved the UK Department of Health, the Department for International Development, and the Gates Foundation on themes of global health and well-being.
