Biography

Matthew Hoover is an MA student in Archaeology. He grew up in Memphis, TN, and received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2014. His first experience with archaeological fieldwork was at Dr. David Anderson’s Bells Bend Field School in central Tennessee, just west of Nashville. He has also participated in a mortuary archaeology field school in Drawsko, Poland, where he assisted in the recovery and analysis of human remains interred during the early Middle Ages. After graduation, he worked in the Cultural Resource Management industry for five years for several different companies, gaining experience in a variety of field methods and techniques. His research interests include public and applied archaeology, lithic analysis, and the prehistory of the American Southeast.
