Taylor Walkup is a Ph.D. student in biological anthropology interested in the biosocial nature of bodies and their subsequent embodiment processes. Originally from Ohio, Taylor spent most of her childhood in Florida and earned B.A. degrees in Anthropology and History from the University of Florida in 2019. In 2022, Taylor graduated from the University of West Florida with her Master's in Anthropology. During her Master's, Taylor worked in the Florida District 1 MEO's office as an autopsy tech assistant, as well as multiple GA positions, including NAGPRA repatriation projects. Her Master's thesis investigated whether premature aging (i.e., "weathering") could be detected via three skeletal aging methods on American white and Black decedents. Taylor aims to continue within that area of research broadly, emphasizing the importance of individual lived experiences to forensic work, as well as forensic anthropologists' role within human rights frameworks.
