CT Sexing Project

National Institute of Justice funded project to improve ability to estimate sex from crania. The project’s goal is to improve sexing accuracy beyond the 85-90 % currently possible using traditional methods. We will use ct scans of crania from modern Americans in the William Bass Donated Collection to examine sex dimorphism in greater detail then can be achieved using external observations and measurements. The project is being conducted jointly by Anthropology and Biomedical Engineering.
