Brian Boyce

Biography

Brian Boyce was born and raised in the twin isle Republic of Trinidad and Tobago located in the Caribbean. He obtained an Associate Degree in Journalism and Public Relations and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications at the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Arts Degree in Carnival Studies at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. 
 
He has worked in various capacities of Trinbagonian and Caribbean culture including Carnival and Theatre. Brian, through his work, believes in telling pointed stories and creating content that showcases cultural assets so that they are not lost to time. He is of the belief that this can be a resounding guide to the future and aid in the holistic development of youth. 
 
Brian is currently a PhD student in Cultural Anthropology at the University of Knoxville, Tennessee under the supervision of Dr. Raja Swamy. His research interests broadly include Carnival, Caribbean Culture, Plantocracy and Colonialism. He is also a recipient of the Tennessee Fellowship for Graduate Excellence for the academic year 2022/2023.
