Application for Progression

Ready to Declare a Major or Minor in Anthropology?

Major: Each concentration within the Anthropology major requires three prerequisite courses: : ANTH 110 – Introduction to Biological Anthropology (or ANTH 117), ANTH 120 – Introduction to Archaeology (or ANTH 127), and ANTH 130 – Cultural Anthropology (or ANTH 137). If you are declaring an Anthropology major but have not yet completed these three courses prior to declaring the major, you will need to prioritize the prerequisite courses on your academic schedule during your first full semester in the major. Students may pass pre-requisite courses within the Anthropology major with a D- grade or higher. Upper division Anthropology courses (classes numbered at the 300-400 level) must have a C grade or higher to count towards the major. Upon declaration of the major, an academic advisor will be assigned.

Minor: The Anthropology minor requires completion of two prerequisite courses in two of the three subject matter categories: Biological anthropology (ANTH 110 or 117), Archaeology (ANTH 120 or 127), or Cultural anthropology (ANTH 130 or 137). Upon satisfactory completion of the prerequisites, you may apply for progression into the Anthropology minor by completing this application. Dr. Devlin will serve as the advisor for all students seeking a minor in Anthropology.
