Careers

Critical Skills

Anthropology prepares students for a wide range of career paths by providing global information and the skills critical for success in research, teaching, advocacy, and public service. Anthropologists work many professions, including academia, multilateral organizations such as the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, the public sector, and private industry. Examples of workplaces include museums and non-profits, medical examiner’s offices and law enforcement agencies, natural and cultural resource management firms, and schools.

Famous Anthropology Majors

Many famous people have a background in anthropology, including novelists Zora Neale Hurston, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., and Amitav Ghosh, social activists and leaders such as Kwame Nkrumah, Jomo Kenyatta, and David Graeber, as well as the internationally renowned doctor Paul Farmer and former president of the World Bank, Dr. Jim Yong Kim.
