Chair: Dr. Amy Mundorff

Jenevieve Walbrecker’s research interests focus on disaster victim identification and dental anthropology, particularly the application of dental morphology and metrics in identification. She aims to clarify the role of specific mandibular and dental parameters using cone-beam computed tomography (CT) scans, with the broader goal of improving the rate of dental identifications and emphasizing the value of postmortem CT imaging in open mass disaster contexts. Additionally, this research can serve to validate and provide error rates of identification methods of the skull with a specific focus on the bony aspects of the jaw. Her bioarchaeological research has focused on assisting biodistance analysis of nonmetric dental variation in medieval and early modern Hungary and assisting stable isotope analysis and radiocarbon dating of dental calculus from medieval Iceland.
